How to Install Soft-Close Drawer Slides？
Soft-close Drawer Slides completely eliminate the noise and impact of slamming drawers. They use built-in dampeners to ensure your drawers close gently and quietly. The installation process is straightforward, requires minimal tools, and can typically be completed in about an hour.

Safety Tip: Before you begin, ensure the drawer is completely empty.
Step 1: Remove the Old Drawer and Slides
Pull the drawer out to its full length. You will usually find a release lever or tab on both sides of the slide mechanism. Press or toggle these levers to disconnect the drawer and lift it up and out of the cabinet.
Use a screwdriver or drill to remove all screws securing the old slides to both the cabinet sides and the drawer sides.
Remove the old slides and clean any dust or debris from the mounting surfaces.
Step 2: Attach New Slides to the Drawer
Lay the drawer on its side for easy access.
Place the drawer member of the new slide (usually the narrower rail) against the outer wall of the drawer side panel.
Crucial Alignment: Ensure the front of the slide is flush with the front edge of the drawer, and the slide is parallel to the bottom of the drawer (usually with a small gap, refer to product instructions).
Hold it steady and use a pencil to mark the screw positions on the drawer side through the holes in the slide.
(Optional but recommended) Pre-drill pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting.
Use the provided short screws to securely fasten the slide to the drawer.
Flip the drawer over and repeat the process for the other side.
Step 3: Prepare the Cabinet Members
Identify the cabinet member of the slide (usually the wider rail that contains the dampening mechanism).
You usually need to separate the drawer member you just installed from the cabinet member. To do this, fully extend the slide, find the release mechanism (often a tab or button near the middle or end), press or toggle it, and pull the two sections apart.
Place the cabinet member (with the dampener) inside the cabinet, ready for installation.
Step 4: Position and Secure the Mounting Brackets
Using Mounting Brackets: Most modern slides are mounted to the cabinet using brackets/clips, not screwed directly to the cabinet. This simplifies adjustment and alignment.
Clip the front mounting bracket onto the front of the cabinet member and the rear mounting bracket onto the back.
Place the assembled slide and brackets against the inner wall of the cabinet side, positioning them roughly front to back.
Critical Step: Use a level to ensure the slide is perfectly horizontal. This is the most important step for ensuring smooth drawer operation.
Once level, hold it in place and mark the screw points on the cabinet side through the holes in the brackets.
Pre-drill holes, then use the provided screws to loosely attach the front bracket (do not fully tighten yet to allow for fine-tuning).
Ensure the rear bracket is also level before securing it in place.
Step 5: Adjustment and Alignment
Measure the height of the slides at both the front and back of the cabinet to ensure both left and right sides are level with each other and consistent front-to-back.
Carefully insert the drawer (with its attached slides from Step 2) into the rails on the cabinet members.
Slowly push the drawer in and out to test its movement. If it binds or feels uneven, the slide height or depth is misaligned.
Gently tap the brackets or loosen the screws slightly to make micro-adjustments until the drawer slides in and out effortlessly.
Once properly aligned, fully tighten all screws on the mounting brackets.
Step 6: Final Testing
Open and close the drawer several times to feel the smoothness of the action.
Finally, close the drawer at a slightly faster speed to test the soft-close feature—the drawer should noticeably slow down for the last few inches and then close gently and silently.

Level is Key: Your level is your best friend. Even a slight tilt can cause the drawer to bind or slide open on its own.
Use the Template: If the slide packaging includes a cardboard installation template, be sure to use it. It can save a significant amount of measuring and adjustment time.
Double-Check Measurements: Always double-check the position and height of all your marks before drilling. "Measure twice, drill once" is the golden rule.
Pre-Drill Holes: Pre-drilling pilot holes, especially in solid wood or chip-prone materials like particleboard, prevents damage and allows screws to grip more tightly.
